Need for TTCs
The role of education in the development of the Society is of paramount importance, especially in the context of our rural background. It is against this backdrop that Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Education Society has given prominence to education and has opened many High Schools mainly in rural areas.

With the introduction of free and compulsory primary education, the demand for good Primary School Teachers' Training Institutions has gained momentum and with a view to meet this demand S T J Education Society has opened many Teachers' Training Centres one of which is Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Teachers' Training Centre, Ranebennur, started in the year 2004-05. The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Southern Regional Office, Bangalore, which is the controlling authority, has granted permission and Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), Bangalore conducts the examinations.

Campus & Infrastructure
At present, Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Teachers' Training Centre, Ranebennur is functioning in the building (Door No.1731/6, Ward No.7B, K No.174) which is constructed in a vast area of 10 acres in the town limits of Ranebennur.

* As an added facility, a well equipped Computer Centre and a well furnished seminar hall of the Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Institute of Technology, Ranebennur, a sister Institute, are made available for the utilization of the D.Ed. students to keep themselves abreast with the essential knowledge of Information and Technology and interaction process of learning.

Computer Centre
Knowledge of computers is the need of the hour in the modern world. To keep our students abreast with essential information and technology, Computer education is made a compulsory subject of study. A well-equipped Computer Centre with qualified staff pertaining to Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Institute of Technology is utilized to cater to the needs of the students.

The Course
Those who have passed II PUC (Science or Arts) with a minimum of 50% of marks may join this two year course. By passing this course, a candidate gains eligibility to become elementary school teacher. Apart from theory classes the students will have to undergo practice in teaching and at the end of second year they will be put on 3 months' internship. During the course they will have to practice teaching at the local primary schools, undergo citizenship Training and undertake educational excursion.

Intake
The annual intake is 50 students out of which 50% are Government seats. The remaining being the Management quota. The Management fills these seats on the basis of merit with due reservation to different categories as per department regulations. Attempts are being made to enhance the intake of students from 50 to 100 to enable the Society to serve a larger number of students of this rural area.

Eligibility:
A Candidate seeking admission to D.Ed course must fulfill the following condition:

  1. The Candidate should be an INDIAN citizen and should have passed the 10+2 course in Karnataka State or a course equivalent thereto. Commerce students should have studied at least two school subjects for eligibility.
  2. A candidate who have passed any course of study like High School (S.S.L.C.), or P.U.C. level Diploma or any other job Oriented course is not eligible for the D.Ed course.
  3. A candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in P.U.C. examination or any other examination deemed equivalent thereto.
  4. The S.C/S.T candidates should have obtained at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination. Category I and other backward class students must obey the state Govt. orders regularly.
  5. The eligible candidates should submit the following documents to the college office at the time of admission.
    i. Original Marks Card of the qualifying examination.
    ii. Original Transfer Certificate
    iii. Original Caste Certificate in case of candidates other than General Merit.


Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to the eligible students both by the department and the Management for the deserving. Financial assistance is also arranged through Students Welfare Fund and the Teachers' Benefit Fund of the education department..

Hostel Facilities
The Institution provides separate hostel facilities for Girls and Boys at the college campus. Students are taken care of with discipline and affection. Hygienic wholesome vegetarian food is served at the hostel. A canteen in the campus caters to the needy students.

Discipline and Conduct
Students are expected to maintain a high standard of discipline both in and out of college campus. They are required to attend the classes regularly and must behave with utmost courtesy at the campus. They have to see that no damage is done to the property of the institution. The students shall be collectively and individually responsible for any loss or damage caused by them to the property.

Library
The Training Centre has a well-equipped Library of its own with a sufficient number of books and journals to cater to the needs of the students and staff.
